Artists Bio

Born in Kenya, raised in Sussex, my life as an artist started early. Both my parents are very creative whether it’s through design or music & encouraged me to pursue my dreams from a young age. When I moved to Sussex at the age of 13 it became easier to enhance my creative side. I studied art at school, college & then an arts degree at Lincoln University. I later acquired my PGCE in art, design & media at Brighton University to teach & inspire future artists.

Textured Art

The desire to become a professional artist was more recent & personal. I wanted to create my own brand of hand made modern textured art that also incorporated older painting techniques. My concept is ‘Sense of Place’. I take places I’ve been, people I’ve met, books I’ve read as inspiration. Exploring the world and learning about the beauty in different cultures also has a major impact on the colours I use in my work. My background is Kenyan, Norwegian & English. All beautiful countries but very different. Each have their own concept of what high quality art is & it’s all different. My love of the sea and the coral reef have always been a part of my life. I lived on the Kenyan coast for a time when I was younger and the coral reef was my playground. Seeing the reef die over the years has been heartbreaking but seeing the reef builders bring it back to life really moved me. Which is why I choose to support Oceans Alive through my art sales. I recently won a an award for best Fine Artist 2025/26 and I feel this had something to do with it.

My studio & art gallery are based in Angmering, UK where I teach workshops once a month. I generally work in oils using brush & palette knives. The texture and oil paint I use I make myself so I can get a higher quality finish on all my work. I would say my work is very influenced by J W Turners underpainting technique. His wonderful use of light fused with a modern textured base gives my work an edgy surrealistic dream like feel. Some of my newer pieces incorporate sound absorbing technology, however these are still in development. The works on here have been featured in House & garden magazine & have been exhibited at Goodwood Racecourse, Kensington Art Fair, Mariposa Ball London, & Art Basel in San Fransisco.
