The Last Flight is an oil on canvas piece based on one of my favourite books of all time ‘Too close to the sun’ by Sara Wheeler. This piece was inspired by the life of Denis Finch Hatton when he was in Kenya. A big game hunter, turned photographer, turned conservationist.
The gypsy moth was used to monitor game and to get Denis from A to B. It was also sadly responsible for his demise when it crashed in 1931 after taking off in Voi.
Original is now sold but the piece had deep texture that can be seen in the prints.
Certificate of authenticity supplied. Print is signed by artist. Print is 60cmx42cm. Mount is in an off white.
